Would Ernest have approved? Well, if he was in the market for some down to earth and wholesome grub in a light and airy coffee shop with a plethora of varied refreshments on offer and a relaxed, funky ambience, then yes, I imagine he would have done.
If you're a coffee person, Hemingways has a really good variety on offer, and it's a great place to pop in for lunch as it harbours all the usual simple lunch items you find yourself craving during a hard day at the office... salads, jacket spuds, sandwiches, Panini melts, all the regular suspects. Meanwhile you can also be naughty as well as nice with a great deal of homemade cakes to choose from too. It's situated right in the heart of Liverpool's business district so be aware, the suits do tend to flock like buzzards towards it between the hours of 12 and 2 but often it's for quick takeaways and you might be able to find yourself a comfy little seat where you can watch the rodent race take place.
It's a very sociable place too, a popular meeting spot for friends and families and a superb option if you just fancy a simple, uncomplicated lunch. The low prices and snappy, friendly service certainly help matters too. -

Unlike its sister cafe across town on Duke Street, this venue found in the heart of Liverpool's business district on Tithebarn I found this to be a much busier venue on my visit.
Its business hours of 7.30 -3.30 and closed at weekends tell what kind of trade this does here in the middle of the office blocks and that is what I found during my lunchtime visit. Yet amidst the suits, laptops and briefcases I didn't find myself out of place with the unusual choice of Belle & Sebastien and maybe Beta Band playing over the speakers unless I'm completely mistaken.
Unlike Hemingway's other cafe they are geared solely for breakfasts and lunch at a reasonable prices but no alcohol.
